₿- Crypto banking services are becoming a key factor influencing how European investors choose their primary financial institution.
European investors are increasingly willing to switch banks for better cryptocurrency services, highlighting how crypto access is becoming a key competitive advantage for financial institutions. A new survey by Börse Stuttgart Digital found that more than one-third of investors would move to another bank if it offered superior crypto services, reflecting the growing importance of digital assets in the European banking sector.
The survey, which included approximately 6,000 investors across Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, suggests that cryptocurrency adoption is continuing to reshape customer expectations. As demand for regulated crypto investing grows, traditional banks are facing increasing pressure to expand their digital asset offerings, including crypto trading, crypto custody, and secure cryptocurrency investment services.

European crypto adoption continues to accelerate
Interest in cryptocurrency continues to rise across Europe, with digital assets becoming an increasingly important part of long-term investment strategies. Nearly one in five respondents expects their primary bank to provide cryptocurrency services within the next three years, demonstrating growing confidence that crypto banking will become part of mainstream financial services.
The survey also found that one-quarter of respondents already own cryptocurrencies, while many more plan to invest in digital assets over the next five years. Spain recorded the highest crypto ownership rate among the countries surveyed, followed by Germany, Italy, and France, reinforcing Europe’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency markets.
As crypto adoption expands, banks that offer regulated crypto trading, digital asset custody, and seamless crypto investing could gain a significant advantage in attracting and retaining customers.
MiCA regulation boosts trust in cryptocurrency investing
Although investor interest continues to grow, regulatory uncertainty remains one of the biggest obstacles to wider cryptocurrency adoption. More than three-quarters of survey participants said cryptocurrencies have historically lacked sufficient regulation, while more than half admitted they do not feel well-informed about digital assets and blockchain technology.

Confidence is gradually improving following the implementation of the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation. Nearly half of the respondents highlighted the importance of clear regulatory frameworks for both retail investors and financial institutions.
Greater legal certainty is expected to encourage more banks, brokers, and asset managers to introduce compliant cryptocurrency products while strengthening trust in Europe’s regulated crypto market.
Regulated crypto infrastructure could shape the future of European banking
The growing demand for crypto banking services is encouraging financial institutions to invest in regulated digital asset infrastructure.
As cryptocurrency adoption continues to expand across Europe, banks that integrate secure crypto services may be better positioned to compete for the next generation of investors. The latest survey indicates that access to cryptocurrency is rapidly evolving from an optional feature to an essential banking service, making crypto banking a major driver of customer loyalty and future growth across the European financial sector.
