In brief:
₿- Customer information, including usernames, password hashes, and live authentication tokens, was exposed, prompting mandatory password resets and API key rotation.
₿- KYT and Address Screening are gradually returning online, while Reactor and Data Solutions remain unavailable as the investigation continues.
Chainalysis has started restoring access to key cryptocurrency monitoring services following a cyberattack that exposed customer credentials and forced several products offline. The incident has raised concerns about the security of blockchain analytics platforms, particularly as attackers increasingly use artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted techniques to compromise technology companies.
In a November 6 update, the blockchain intelligence company confirmed that it had begun gradually reopening its Know Your Transaction (KYT) and Address Screening services. Access is being restored in phases, with additional customers expected to regain access as enhanced security measures are implemented.

However, Reactor and Data Solutions remain unavailable, with Chainalysis providing no definitive timeline for their restoration.
Chainalysis introduces mandatory security measures
The recovery process involves additional access restrictions and mandatory credential changes. Customers must provide trusted IP addresses to Chainalysis support teams or account representatives so they can be added to an approved access list.
Once access is restored, users must reset their passwords and rotate application programming interface (API) keys, where applicable, before resuming transaction registration.
The company is also working with external cybersecurity specialists to strengthen its infrastructure and monitor suspicious activity throughout the restoration process. The measures follow several days of disruption.
Data exposure expands the scope of cyberattacks
Chainalysis initially disclosed the security incident on October 30, reporting unauthorized access to its systems and internal tools through what it described as offensive agentic techniques.
Its initial findings identified exposure of customer profile information, including names, email addresses, user IDs, and organizational roles. Separately, an on-path attack exposed a subset of customer passwords. Chainalysis said it had contained the attack vector and locked affected accounts as a precaution.

Despite the expanded findings, the company maintains that it has found no evidence that attackers accessed customer investigation data or manipulated its blockchain attribution information. The investigation remains ongoing.
AI-assisted cyberattacks raise security concerns
The incident comes amid growing reports of AI-assisted attacks targeting technology platforms and cloud infrastructure. Security researchers have documented campaigns in which autonomous tools scan public repositories for exposed credentials and subsequently exploit compromised access to obtain sensitive information.
Microsoft has also reported agentic AI activity targeting cloud credentials, application secrets, and enterprise resources.
For cryptocurrency businesses, the Chainalysis incident highlights the importance of credential protection, API security, and controlled account access. The gradual service restoration marks progress, but customers will need to complete additional security requirements before normal operations can resume.
